Madeleine C Wright
Barrister
Sally Gepp Barrister
Madeleine is a barrister specialising in environmental and resource management law. She is an experienced litigator and has a diverse practice, assisting developers, government, and environmental NGOs. Madeleine has been intimately involved with preparation of the NPISB. She was part of the collaborative group tasked with drafting its first iteration, and was then engaged by the Department of Conservation to assist it with preparing the proposed NPSIB released for public consultation. Madeleine is currently assisting the Ministry for the Environment on matters relating to indigenous biodiversity in context of the resource management law reforms.

Derek Nolan QC

Derek Nolan is a Queen’s Counsel with over 40 years’ experience in environmental, resource management, planning and natural resources law, local government law and in public works claims. He was a partner at Russell McVeagh for 30 years before moving to the Bar in 2014. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2016. Derek was a founder and second President of the Resource Management Law Association of New Zealand. He is a former Vice-Chairman of the Environmental Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the International Bar Association and was for many years a member and convenor of the Environmental Law Committee of the NZ Law Society. Derek is the Editor and an author of Environment and Resource Management Law (LexisNexis).

Marija Batistich

Marija is an experienced resource management lawyer and has practiced environmental law for over two decades in leading firms both overseas and in New Zealand. She provides strategic advice, and has acted as counsel, on all stages of the resource consent and planning process, with a focus on major infrastructure and transport projects. She is currently senior corporate counsel RMA at KiwiRail.
