Major supply chain players back inaugural supply chain superhui
Seven significant players in local and global supply chains have thrown their support behind the inaugural Aka Raupapa – National Freight and Supply Chain Superhui to be held in Hamilton on 1&2 July this year.
The event’s founders Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) and its conferencing partner Brightstar have welcomed the strong sponsorship support for the superhui intended to help shape the future of our national supply chain.
Major port operator Port of Tauranga is headline sponsor of Aka Raupapa. It will be ably supported by the major sponsors which include leading global investment firm Brookfield, which is one of the world’s largest investors in property for logistics, and national rail operator KiwiRail.
Other respected players to back the event include Kotahi, CBRE, Synergic Technologies and Argon, rounding out a strong family of supporters for the event seven weeks away.
Several national associations are supporting organisations for the event; the National Road Carriers, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and New Zealand Shipping Federation.
TGH Chief Executive Craig West thanked the sponsors and supporting organisations for helping make the Superhui possible at a time when current events demonstrated the country’s supply chains were at a crossroads.
“It’s great to be working so closely with Port of Tauranga, Brookfield, KiwiRail and our other valued partners for Aka Raupapa who, like TGH, care strongly about keeping our national supply chain resilient, productive and as sustainable as possible,” says Mr West.
Port of Tauranga CEO Leonard Sampson said a key attraction of the event is the opportunity to bring the right people together – industry, iwi and government to move the national supply chain forward.
“By definition the supply chain is a connected system, so no one part of the system can thrive alone. Port of Tauranga is excited to be part of the family bringing this vital discussion to Aotearoa-New Zealand at a critical time,” said Mr Sampson.
For Brookfield, which has its Asia Pacific headquarters in Sydney, backing the conference is another step in its commitment to investing in growth in New Zealand.
“Brookfield is pleased to bring together the policymakers, logistics leaders, and infrastructure investors shaping the future of New Zealand’s supply chain for a structured conversation on the path forward,” said Tomas Fekete, Senior Vice President, Real Estate Investments at Brookfield.
KiwiRail Chief Executive Peter Reidy said backing the Superhui was a natural decision.
“With rail freight providing the heavy-lifting backbone of the New Zealand freight system, Aka Raupapa is a natural fit for us, and we look forward to the opportunities it will provide to go beyond talking around the issues and start aligning on the solutions,” said Mr Reidy.
TGH has teamed up with leading national conferencing company Brightstar to develop and deliver the two-day event. The pairing unites TGH’s intergenerational stewardship of freight and supply chain (including development of the 610ha Ruakura Superhub and inland port), with Brightstar’s 30-year track record of building B2B connections across a raft of industry sectors including primary industries, infrastructure, energy, technology and investment.
The Aka Raupapa programmes includes a global geopolitical update, candid sharing and debate of government, industry and iwi perspectives, case studies in national and international best practice and a focus on the roles of technology and sustainability in the supply chain with more information available here:
