Simon Tucker is the Group Director of Global External Affairs at Fonterra. Craig Renney is the Economist and Director of Policy for the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions. Prior to taking on this role, Craig spent five years working for Grant Robertson (New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance) as his Senior Advisor and worked with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Craig helped to deliver New Zealand’s first three Wellbeing Budgets and the successful COVID-19 economic response. Originally from the UK, Craig has worked for the NZ Treasury, MBIE, and the NZ Reserve Bank. Craig is a regular contributor to media on the economy, politics, and government reform.

Mike Roan was appointed Chief Executive Officer 1 July 2025 following a six year period as Chief Financial Officer from April 2019.He holds a Masters in Finance.Mike originally joined Meridian in 2006 as a Strategy Analyst before moving into the wholesale side of the business in 2009 as Wholesale Markets Manager and ultimately General Manager Wholesale. Before joining Meridian, Mike was domiciled in the United States where he worked in a number of energy trading roles. He is a kiwi who, prior to the US, spent time working within the New Zealand electricity sector and banking.

During a distinguished career with the BBC, Nick Bryant came to be regarded as one of its finest foreign correspondents. He has covered some of the most momentous events of our times. The attacks of September 11th, the war in Afghanistan, the Asian tsunami, the election of Barack Obama and the presidency of Donald Trump. In addition to his broadcast work, he has also written for an array of publications, including The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Economist, The New Statesman, The Guardian, The Independent, The Monthly, and The Sydney Morning Herald. During his career, he has interviewed some of the leading figures in politics and the arts: Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Tony Blair, Kevin Rudd, Nancy Pelosi, Greta Thunberg, Alec Baldwin, Trevor Noah, Margaret Atwood, and Elton John. As well as the BBC, he has appeared on ABC, SBS, CNN, Channel Nine, Channel Ten and MSNBC. He is a regular contributor on ABC Radio National. He is the author of the critically-acclaimed When America Stopped Being Great: A History of the Present, which made it onto Joe Biden’s bookshelf in the Oval Office, and The Rise and Fall of Australia: How a Great Nation Lost its Way. He is a history graduate from Cambridge University, who holds a doctorate in US politics from Oxford University. He now lives in Sydney with his wife and three children.

CFO Awards MC | Matt Heath

Matt Heath has had a rich career as a broadcaster, sports commentator, actor, producer, columnist, musician and author. You might remember him from cult television hit show The Back of The Y or feature film The Devil Dared Me To, but he is probably best known for his 13 year stint on the breakfast show for Radio Hauraki and now as the co-host of “Afternoons” on Newstalk ZB.

 

He was the lead singer and guitarist for the band Deja Voodoo for many years, worked on a number of shows for MTV2 (UK) and recently appeared regularly on the revamped Game of Two Halves for Sky Television. He was a columnist for the NZ Herald for 10 years, has authored a cookbook, and runs the motion graphics company Vinewood Animation Studios. 

 

Even with this full plate, Matt works regularly as a corporate MC and Speaker, he continues to provide engaging and irreverent sports commentary for the highly successful Alternative Commentary Collective, and last year released his book “A Life Less Punishing”.
