NZ Nurses Organisation President Anne Daniels talks nurse strikes, policy and AI
In our recent Nursing and the Law conference, representatives from practice, policy and legal:
– Discussed the latest healthcare reforms, legal obligations, and workforce challenges
– Explored culturally safe and equitable care under Te Tiriti o Waitangi,
– Examined ethical and psychosocial risks, and
– Discussed legal implications in digital nursing, staffing, and patient safety.
In one of our sessions, Anne Daniels explored at length safe nurse staffing levels, examining their impact on patient outcomes and nurse wellbeing, the consequences of chronic understaffing, current policies and guidelines, case studies of effective staffing models, and strategies to overcome barriers through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration.
